In Germany million people suffer from glaucoma. The actual figures are suspected to be much higher. Only preventive medical check ups and accurate treatment can help to avoid visual field losses and blindness. Unfortunately glaucoma is uncureable. As soon as the visual field defect occurre, it is too late. It leads to a neurophaty (nerve damage) at the place where the optic nerve leaves the eye.
