Intravitreal Injection for Macular Degeneration
Wet macular degeneration is caused by the growth of abnormal blood vessels under the retina at the back oft he eye. These blood vessels can leak which makes the retina swell, causing blurr ed or dissorted vision. Patients who have an wet macular degeneration can be helped. Using intravitreal injections of ranibizumab (Lucentis®) helps to slow down the process by minimizing the growth and the leakage of these abnormal blood vessels.
